After 15 years in the business, Asia’s definitive annual music festival, ZoukOut, is finally crossing borders. This year, ZoukOut breaks new ground on the fine, white sands of Boracay, Philippines. Together with co-presenter, the country’s #1 mobile brand, Globe Telecom, ZoukOut is out to redefine and amplify the LaBoracay experience. The much-awaited event is set to happen this summer on April 30 and May 1 at Epic and Uptown Beachfront, Boracay.
Adding to the excitement of the music fest, Globe rolled out a poll that allowed Filipinos to pick which home grown talents they want to represent the country at ZoukOut. Four big names in the Philippine electronic dance music industry, namely Mars Miranda, Deuce, Kat DJ, and Carlo Atendido, were cast as the official candidates.
I pretty much heard some of these local DJ’s in my first two nights in Boracay already and I’m so excited for Kaskade! My favorite song by them is Eyes.

A few months ago, a good friend played at his car two songs: “People of The Night” – which you’re listening to now – and “Here Tonight” by this Dutch artist, Dash Berlin, and I instantly fell in love with his #EDM songs with unique sounds and lyrical content. Timely, I saw from fellow blogger Chin Obcena’s IG, that Dash will be playing for the Cosmic Ground Music Festival to be held at the SM MOA Grounds so I didn’t let this pass by.
My OOTN featuring my New Era cap!
The festival featured different international and local acts as well but we arrived just a few acts before Dash Berlin- we were able to watch ECTwins and Project 46. As for Dash, the audio-visual display stayed true and consistent to his album, We Are, with mixes of popular pop and RnB songs. I really enjoyed this music festival because it’s not too crowded and most importantly, I just loved his music!! That’s what is it about, right?
Thank you Chin and Cosmic Ground Music Festival for this experience and to my friends who made this night extra fun! Looking forward to more in the future! More photos below:

Above is a playlist of the recent mixes that Dash berlin played during the event.I really like his take on Martin Garrix’ Don’t Look Down (I actually even like it better that the original). Make sure to check out This is Who We Are – one of my fav’s in his album which he used to start his show. I just love Dash! He’s already one of my favorite EDM artist after listening to just a few songs!!
Few weeks ago, I attended the launch of Ferrari Man In Red, a new fruity ambery fougère fragrance that is a bold and intense scent that celebrates all that is thrilling about Ferrari. I got the chance to withness its brand launch 4 years ago as you can view here, and I really like how it continuously upgrades the definition of masculine fragrances.
I attended the party which was held at newly opened and more luxe and intimate Revel at The Palace, the newest addition to The Palace Manila complex. It perfects the art of luxury clubbing which can be seen with its interiors, music and events. I’ve visited it a few times times after the launch as you can see here and here, and i like the kind of music and intimacy that it imbibes.
Upon seeing the packaging of the new fragrance, I had the feeling that it’s intense and strong but previous Ferrari fragrance launches had refreshing notes so I knew a little about what this could be. Now, the new Man in Red bottle is more modern, stylish and elegant. Glamorous curves outline an indent in the glass, creating a contemporary object that sits beautifully in the hand. Meanwhile, sophisticated and refined lines are offset by a double-lacquer finish in Rosso Corsa Red, a red invented and created by Ferrari for its cars.
Ferrari Man in Red
I tried testing it at the event and it has indeed refreshing top notes. I went home with a bottle and gave it to my dad who is also a Ferrari, car and scent lover, and he told me that it’s one of those fragrances that stays with a signature scent and that doesn’t appear too dark or heavy. The bottles are in 50 and 100 ml, EDT, but I kept on smelling the scent even after a few hours – like an EdP – whenever my dad uses and passes by me at home. It has the right balance of intensity, freshness and boldness all at one, which I really like and recommend.
The senses are awakened by fresh and captivating bergamot, whose sharpness is mellowed by the mouth-watering accents of red apple, and tempered by the cool spice notes of cardamom. Refreshed by the lively opening notes, the composition gently leads us to a fruity-floral heart, where the sensuous and dulcet notes of golden plum, refined orange blossom and unique lavandin are waiting to reveal their true character. At the base, smouldering cedar, addictive tonka bean and warm labdanum give a leathery and intensely masculine backdrop to this unique fragrance full of contrasts.
At the Man in Red launch, the new Ferrari TV commercial was revealed, transporting us into the world of the charismatic and compelling Man in Red. To cap the night off, Brazilian DJ Luane featured her sultry beats followed with a special DJ set by car enthusiast Keith Haw.
The new fragrance was launched together with Filipino-English football star James Younghusband, actor Troy Montero, Brazilian actor and host Fabio Ide, rising basketball star Chris Banchero, DJ Tom Taus, and Sonny Thoss of Gilas Pilipinas. They are all men of contrasts. Always in the pursuit of ardent experiences, they live life to the fullest – just like the Ferarri Man.

Last year, I tried to stop going to clubs to party. I thought that I would rather spend time and connect with people I love in the HOUSE, or at the movies or coffee shops.
I met new friends earlier this year (who i love and who love going out too) and I got introduced to this club called “House” at Remington Hotel, Resorts World Manila. I don’t know why they called it such and while it’s quite far from home, I must say that ever since that night, I got the urge to travel, dress up and just have fun because this club is actually very artistic and creative in its performances (talented DJ’s, Russian dances), its gimmicks (interactive and extra cool Universorobots – read: not just one but two/three!!), and the fancy lights and smoke which i really like! I think that it’s actually nicer than a lot of the clubs in the metro which focus on making their bars appear glam and luxe.
Since July, I think I would go here twice-thrice a month on a normal basis. But there are a lot of special events like: I attended a men’s fashion show last August, and also watched an international dj performance (Liz Candy, who my cousins and I just loved since then) last halloween. Below are some photos of my night out’s!

Anyway, below is an #OOTD during one of my House nights. It’s from Jennica Sanchez/Empire Manila =)
Plus this song which i love playing at House. have you been there for your weekend nights? what you think?
2015 was a very successful year for The Palace Pool Club which has become a go-to place that host international acts of DJ’s and EDM artists. Aside from that, I just love it being like the “Boracay” of Manila, with interiors and feels so relaxing yet tropical-magical. Below was the line up of events that I went to, from the latest to my first encounter with the coolest pool place in the metro.
MAJOR LAZER x DIPLO
Diplo is definitely one of those artists that I admire with unique musical style and memorable songs (well aside from him being cute haha). Combined with Major Lazer, which is originally Diplo + Switch until the latter left the group and included Jillionaire and Walshy Fire, their message and creative animated visuals at the event remind of a mixture of a lot of great things like reggae, house, electronic, etc.

They sang most of their songs from Peace is The Mission album, but also, of course, the ultra hits Where Are U Now and Lean On (which is my favorite because he also collaborated with my favorite, Dj Snake, who I heard will be coming to Sinulog huhu)
Below is also a video showing how cool Diplo is! Ughhh
Definitely Aokified that night! Steve Aoki is probably the most flexible EDM artist I witnessed. While he didn’t play much of his songs from the Neon Future II album which I’ve been expecting, he definitely knew how to please the crowd by remixing songs famous locally.
I didn’t get the chance to take more videos or photos that night because it was so jampacked and we were just dancing and drinking to his songs. LOL
Last but not the least, Porter Robinson which is my favorite from this set of artists. Know more about it here.
I missed two great artist too, Kaskade and Alesso, this year but I’m really hoping that more acts will be featured by the Palace next year! Thanks to Pam Sollilapsi, Levi’s and Ryan for all these musical experiences. You can contact them at 0917 689 8888 for bookings and reservations.
What were your favorites and who are the artists you’re looking forward to next year?
The philosophy behind the title is what Johnnie Walker now champions, as presented during “The Way I Walk,” a media launch event recently held by the brand at The Eye at Green Sun, Makati. “The Way I Walk” unveiled Johnnie Walker’s latest Joy Will Take You Further campaign, and introduced the faces behind the movement to press members as well as VIP guests.
I got really attracted to this event because well, one, Scotch Whiskey is my favorite drink at night and two, I was intrigued by the campaign which I got to know more.
At the event,a duo of proud Filipinos have recently jumped on board a new global campaign from top Scotch Whisky brand Johnnie Walker to champion joy as the key to meaningful progress, joining a global roster of other extraordinary people from all walks of life. Mountaineer Romi Garduce, and musician, actress, and blogger Saab Magalona are among a growing number of people who epitomise a way of thinking that challenges the conventional wisdom that success leads to happiness. Instead, these remarkable personalities celebrate the fact that happiness actually helps people achieve more.
Among the list of “extraordinaries” are Formula One World Champion and McLaren Honda driver Jenson Button, award-winning actor Jude Law, and American alternative rock band OK Go; whose understanding of success and progress aligns with the results from a growing body of scientific research into the power of happiness.
The more familiar set of ambassadors which evidently practice this philosophy is the band Cheats, some band members of which I’ve known since college. Ever since I heard them in 2014, I have loved their originality, passion (as artists and Pinoy’s too) and creativity.

JW also shared some facts about this philosophy. Dr Matt Killingsworth, a US-based psychologist and scientist who studies human happiness, acted as a consultant for the campaign. He said: “People sometimes think of happiness as a far-off, distant prize only to be won by their years of hard work or when they achieve conventional markers of success, like a higher income or a bigger house. But there is a growing body of evidence that enjoying happiness along the way makes success more likely.” Commenting on the campaign launch Diageo Philippines General Manager Jon Good said: “As a brand Johnnie Walker has always stood for progress—it’s been the story of our whisky since our founder John Walker started it all nearly 200 years ago. What two centuries of experience have taught us is that progress doesn’t have to be an endless uphill journey—we can enjoy the steps we take and the more happiness we find in them the more likely we are to achieve our goal. Evidence is confirming a conviction that sits at the heart of our brand: Joy Will Take You Further.” Personally:
I just also was so happy for Saab’s success, happiness and love (recently got married!!). She has been a great friend ever since college/Dollhouse and when I started my own blog which she supported. I consider her as one of my blogger idols, and also as a music icon (me as a music lover lang hehe). She’s so creative, smart and focused on what she does and loves which you’ll get to know more in her video below. I really like how she built her own identity and market too, based on what she is, and what she really wants to do in her life. That’s really how we should all do it! =)
Congratulations on everything, Saab!!
The other JW night last quarter 3 is filled with music and flavor through The Journey with Johnnie Walker at Valkyrie at The Palace, a multi-sensorial party showcasing select variants of the Johnnie Walker brand. Recognizing life and its many twists and turns, the Johnnie Walker event invited guests to embark on a flavorful journey as they navigated through the clubbing mecca’s twists and turns to learn more about Johnnie Walker Red, Black, and Gold Label Reserve.
For the one-night affair, Valkyrie became home to the partying scene’s hippest DJs. DJs Mars Miranda, Callum David, David Ardiente, and Kat DJ took turns in unleashing beats from different areas in Valkyrie, creating a moving party experience like no other, while Johnnie Walker Red Label, Black Label, and Gold Label Reserve each had rooms that treated guests to different surprises throughout the night.
Went with fellow blogger Raiza Poquiz who’s being toured here by JW model, Aldwin Go
I toured the The Johnnie Walker Red Label Room which was witness to a lively mixology class hosted by Diageo Reserve World Class 2013 Philippine Bartender of the Year AK Roxas, who demonstrated the different ways (Hello, chemistry skills!!) to enjoy Johnnie Walker Red Label, the Pioneer Blend.

Meanwhile, the Johnnie Walker Black Label Room generated curiosity among guests as they peered at the great black leather chair and awaited the reveal of Azkals hunk Anton Del Rosario, who personified the iconic brand’s Striding Man for the night. Guests also enjoyed a quick mentoring session care of Diageo Reserve World Class 2014 Bartender of the Year Joma Rivera, who delivered the complete Johnnie Walker Black Label experience with smoke and wood, elements unique to the Iconic Blend.
Lastly, the Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve room was ground to a whisky mentoring session hosted by Erwan Heussaff and Diageo Reserve World Class 2015 Philippine Bartender of the Year Kenneth Bandivas. The session was as educational as it was lively, showcasing the great flavors of Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve.
“The idea behind this event is to really unify the labels, particularly Red, Black, and Gold Reserve under the Johnnie Walker banner,” shares Cesar Gangoso, Customer Marketing Director of Diageo Philippines. “We want to create experiences unique to each brand, but we also want these experiences to be representative of the iconic heritage from where they come.”
Here are two amazing nights I had with Johnnie Walker and here’s to wishing continued journey and happiness for all of us.
I will admit that longer hours are spent at night whenever I am in Boracay. But through the years, I noticed events and brands bringing in different musical acts – local, international, House, Electronic, reggae – the variety of which I really like. I think that when Moony came to the island a few years ago, I got really jealous because I’m such a fan of her!
A Sunset party
I also learned this year how to spend some nights just by the beach by myself, or hanging around with my friends aside from going to the famous bars like Epic and event places like Sur. Below is my photo diary:
We also got to watch some musical performances and my favorite was Rebecca & Fiona, which is a Swedish duo from Stockholm, known as a support act for my idol Robyn. Aside from them being beautiful and stylish, they bring good music (and they drink Pale Pilsen! wohoo!!)
This is my favorite song of them when I watched them in the first Forever Summer music festival!
Below are other acts we watched during our stay through photos and snaps (yes I started using that during my stay haha)
Held last March 2015 at the Block 22 of SM Mall of Asia Complex, is the return of biggest free party in Manila, Unleashed (4th!), and the first birthday of SM Youth. More than 29,000 gathered and celebrated this special night with us and Weedoo. Another record has just been broken and Unleashed has proven itself yet once again to be the biggest party of the year! Congratulations and happy birthday SM Youth, and continue to be that creative lifestyle brand inspiring the filipino youth!
Came straight from Boracay and this is definitely one the Unleashed parties that i enjoyed =)
It was my first visit at the newly-opened City Of Dreams, which looked so huge and luxurious (I secretly hoped I’d see Leonardo DiCaprio haha), and at Pangaea Manila, a luxury club located in the second floor. I got to check the place – which had amazing interiors, exuberant atmosphere, Peacock Rooms, Study Lounge, and rotating piano – out on a Spoiled Brat themed day and to party with the Benefit beauty girls.
Of course, it was a night of drinks and bling brows which I got to learn to play and wear after the workshop. Got to know that the Swarovski “blings” will also be present on a limited They’re Real Mascaras! Thanks to Benefit and Pangaea for this Wednesday night ( you may contact Seya Sanchez for bookings and reservations on this day). More photos below:
Last night, I attended this event called Kids These Days: Kids of Beyonce and you know how I love Queen B! It made me so sad last year that her On the Run tour didn’t even reach Philippines and Asia that much and I would really cry and spend for that if that will happen this year. Instead, as the first Saturday of my 2015, I went to Today x Future. It was my first time but it was quite familiar! I was happy to see some of my LGBT friends there, old classmates, current work mates and new friends that also loved the music that I listen to!
Loved the sets of Regina Belmonte, Paris Roxas and Inah Evans! It was a mix of all my favorite Beyonce and non-B songs and I just enjoyed every song played, with much craziness and love in dancing 😉 Will definitely be back in this place!!
(Apologies for the blurry pics! It was like my vision coz I forgot to wear contacts haha)
