A few weeks ago, I attended the second #CloseUpForeverSummer which has always been keeping the best EDM stars closer to the youth. This year, they brought Martin Garrixx to make this the best electro event of the year. And it was!
The previous year featured Alesso, which I had the privilege to witness live, thanks to Close Up team (And Paul Chuapoco!). And I thought that the level of excitement, crowd and music wouldn’t be matched but I was wrong.
…such that I had to fly from Bantayan-Cebu-MOA Concert Grounds just for this in a day, and rebook my flight, travel by myself and leave my friends huhu and pay extra. That’s how I love Martin Garrix and how badly I wanted to go to this event!
And I thought that it was all worth it!! Martin Garixx is probably one of the youngest yet most successful EDM artist in the world. This Dutch DJ has toured different countries and had collaborated with different artists to become where he is now. Debuting at number 40 of DJ Magazine ’s Top 100 DJs, he is currently ranked number 3, below Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Hardwell. (Wikipedia) But what i really liked about Martin (aside from his looks and stage presence) is how strong, inspirational and fantastical his images and songs are. When I heard Don’t Look Down (a collaboration with Usher) and Rewind, Repeat It (with THE Ed Sheeran) which you’re hearing now, I instantly fell in love with his art =)
I went with my friends (My #laboracay crew) and it was easy to enjoy the event with their company because they’re the kind who would go to Europe and different places to watch their EDM and House artists.

What’s so exceptional about his concert as well is the visual display. It reminded me so much of Alesso and Avicii but he has unique and very branded attack on his audio-visual presentations.
Below are samples of the visual display projected in the big stage. I checked some Ultra Music Festival videos of him and I bet these would look really grander on a bigger stage.
I really thought it ended quick and I noticed how others also wanted more of his music. It was one great way to end my summer and I’m looking forward to 2016’s main act!! See you there!!
