Closer to the Edge

I think that there comes a point where you decide on style. A good friend of mine once challenged me about this and asked me to consider being “edgy” when it comes to these choices, especially with my orientation, because he said that most of my peers would be too feminine or sexy and would fall under those constructs. I considered myself, and I believe in balance, fluidity and strength.

So Here’s my OOTD. Top & Shoes: Zara; Hat: Forever 21; Leggings: Top shop.

Too Cool For The Summer

They say that denim is too hot to wear for the summer but I don’t believe so. I like denim, jeans and clothes that are like denim LOL, even if summer, or in the case of Philippines, forever, all year-round regardless of the temperature.

But this summer, Levi’s introduced an innovative denim collection specifically constructed to combat sweltering hot weather. I got to road test this new product at Quezon which was scorching hot and it is indeed cooling – the kind of comfort that adjusts the body’s temperature also to maintain temperature balance and comfort amidst the summer heat (thanks to the patented CoolMax fibers!)

So below is my OOTD, featuring Levi’s (jeans) and Sperry shoes, and collection photos courtesy of Levi’s.

Sweet Spot

Top: Kashieca; Denim shorts from Super Sale Bazaar; Cap: Forever 21
Remembered how I was forced to play golf when I was a kid and how it trained my focus and balance. And my sweet spot. Shot at Graceland, Quezon.
In Golf’s terms, Sweet Spot: The point on the clubface where, if it is struck with an object, the clubface will not torque or twist to either side.

TGI Sevenfriday!

The name alone tells you that this is something different. Both in design, heft, and form, it communicates a unique aura that is totally different from competing watches in its price bracket, and even higher-end luxury watches. Like the watch itself, a Sevenfriday wearer is sophisticated, successful, and with good taste—but with a rebelliousness of spirit that makes him unafraid to stand out.

True Fashionalism

Between BAYO‘s credibility as a local fashion brand for the discriminating Pinay, and Len Cabili’s commitment to celebrating traditional weave (and weavers!) through beautifully-crafted and impeccably designed clothes, what one can only expect is the wonder that fashion interwoven with nationalism. Pinoy pride has never looked this good, really.

What I like about this is that it’s not just any other campaign or print material that targets on the Filipina because this one is a deep collaboration with a designer who used materials and employed Filipinos to create these pieces.

Len Cabili is unlike any other local designer who has gained international acclaim. Growing up in Iligan City nurtured in her a love for the rich cultural heritage of Mindanao, something that is at the heart of her fashion line FILIP + INNA. As such, while Cabili is part of the great number of Filipino designers who have achieved global recognition, she does not merely use raw or indigenous materials from Philippines. Instead, Cabili’s designs happen with the indigenous weavers, and each piece of clothing is as unique as that weaver’s hand. World-class Filipino fashion has never looked this beautiful, and has never been this deeply rooted in our history.

Fashionalism is nothing short of fantastic. With a common rootedness in nation, Len Cabili and BAYO are coming together with a limited edition FILIP + INNA for BAYO fashion line, that can only speak of Fashionalism like no other. Each of the eight pieces in this collection features hand-embroidery by T-boli women from Lake Sebu in Mindanao, which can only set the bar higher for ready-to-wear fashion. No fashion collaboration has ever dared do what FILIP + INNA for BAYO seeks to achieve. No fashion collaboration can stand for nationalism like FILIP + INNA for BAYO.

And with intricately crafted and superbly designed clothes, Fashionalism has never looked this good. And by good, I think it also has a potential to be global with it’s very unique and classy designs. The items immediately sold out in the Bayo store in Glorietta during the launch.

Thing Called Interpretation

Interpretation celebrates the many different ways we can present ourselves whether in beauty, culture or even in language. Last March, Garage Magazine and Levi’s presented how that can be in fashion, allowing for our individual style expressions.
The event was held in URBN Bar where it started with a fashion show the military style! Several models entered with just sando’s and boxers and dressed up to show their fashion interpretations! I love it when men do it! And when Garage hosts it!

Aside from this, Garage celebrated 7 young talents in their own fields: Toff de Venecia, Joseph Pascual, Mark San Diego, Cara Manglapus, Gerard Cancio, Gabby Cantero, and Gio Tingson. They also showcased their sense and style during the night. 4 of them were friends and former classmates in Ateneo! Woohoo Go Blue!

Moreover, they launched the Young Talents Issue with rising stars Alden Richards and Benjamin Alves on the special gatefold cover. They presented the new generation of tastemakers featuring the spring wardrobe essentials for men.

The Fashion Authority

Accessories! Albeit I would not usually wear a lot because I’m soooo lazy and I would usually focus on color cosmetics, I know for a fact that these things add so much to what one’s wearing so I thought, why not check out SM’s latest offer on affordable yet trendy, sophisticated and glamorous items and how to achieve its take on Holiday?

SM Accessories’ big reveal happened last November in Republiq Club for a night of fashion and sophistication on! Aside from the big 4 ambassadors (XIAAAAAANN looooooove!!!) and my potential love for accessories, I was just so excited to see and meet a lot of people in this event!

Holiday to Party

What I like about the holiday is that it’s so filled and busy with events that it challenges everyone to change looks instantly – from day to night, from office to party or from casual to extraordinary. And I really love doing makeovers! I won’t publish some of my December events coz they’re so many but I’m so amazed by how now I can do make-up of my friends and cousins in comfort rooms of clubs, malls and houses in minutes, given limited materials! hahaha

So in one random coffee night with my stylist friend, Stephanie Cudal, who came from a styling stint, it turned out to be a tutorial, makeover, bonding and pictorial in one, in 3 hours! haha I was the makeup artist (with a few tools) and photographer while she styled herself with limited accessories and just one bottom – the Levi’s Metallic pink foil jeggings which I just bought this Christmas because of her insights! It was really perfect because I got a lot of ideas on how i can wear this.

1. Casual Look

And pink! Steph said that for her casual look, she would use all pink (regardless of texture) to match her jeggings and I used a lipstick that totally matched her hues.
And the pink lipstick from Shiseido looked good on her, with minimal eye or cheek color!

Here’s another casual look! I asked her for a less girly look and tadah! Just a plain white shirt and accesories would do as per her. As for her makeup, I removed the pink lipstick and used a red one and slightly intensified her liner and shadows.

2. Office look
Now, this I really need. With the same jeggings, Steph used a top with the same shiny texture as the jeggings and contrasted the overall hue with black – the Coach bag, the Ray-Ban glasses and the top. As for her makeup, I brought back the pink lipstick so it would not be so black and white, and minimized the liner on the lower eye area to not have an “eye-bag” effect with her glasses on! So corporate yet glam!

IMG_4510 IMG_4515

3. Party Look
Since the overall texture is shiny and shimmery, I started with the lippies that had what I needed. I used the mid-red from the reds of the Guerlain Shine Automatique line and oh, I really loved the level of shine (and the sparkles) it gave on her. The packaging is also perfect for parties as it’s not so messy! Shimmery and dark eyes. I used the Bobbi Brown To-Go Smokey palette which had white shimmers that I placed in the inner eye corner area for a bigger eye effect.I also used the shimmery brown and black of the smokey palette which matched her hair and clothes as well! Done with the shiny smokey party makeup which matched her outfit. She used the gliterry black pumps again
for the night look for a shiny texture.

Really love doing this! More of this in my next posts! Hope you learned something coz I absolutely did from her! Thanks so much Steph!

Ray-Ban Legends

Being yourself. Freely expressing your beliefs and personality. Never hiding. These are just some of captions we can put to the photos that Ray-Ban just released for their 75th year

Because for 75 years, Ray-Ban has been there where records were broken, conventions were challenged, rules have been unwritten, ideas were born. Since I was a kid, self-expression has been one of my mantras in life and while people or the places I’ve been to try to get this away from me, I have never stopped hiding. With this blog, my identity and difference, my history and my hopes and dreams – I believe that I can also be a legend.I wanna be the one who broke her spell and made a difference =)

When I saw the above images in the billboards, internet and stores, I told myself that for an iconic and legendary brand, Ray-Ban is doing a great celebration of its birthday in these times where, people are still hiding, and where in the Philippines, democracy exists but freedom is hard to reach.

Thanks Ray-Ban for this move and I would like to greet you a happy birthday. Please continue to keep the Never Hide spirit! Below are the seven figures that unconsciously broke through barriers; their eyes were open while the world’s were closed.
