X-A2

Weeks ago, Fujifilm invited me to the launch of their new X-A2 hosted by Tim Yap at 71 Gramercy. Ever since I bought from Camera Haus my X-A1 which is already celebrating its first year anniversary with me, I’ve been using it in my travels (check out my #fujifilmph tags) because it’s handy, mirorrless, Wi-fi ready (sends photos to my iPhone easily) and true to Fuji’s expertise which is color and image quality.

But the new X-A2X-A2 features Fujifilm’s newly developed eye detection AF, auto macro AF and multi-target for fast and accurate autofocusing and I got intrigued by these qualities!

The new X-A2 comes with their newest XC16-50mm F3.5-.5.6 OIS II kit lens. The nicest thing about the newest X-A2 is the super intelligent flash that optimizes the light output according to the scenes, which I tested using the below photos.

Photo 07-01-2016, 3 10 39 AM

When shooting at night, my X-A1 really doesn’t capture the background as you can see above, compared to the X-A2. I took two photos of my friends using different cameras and you can clearly say that X-A2 has a big improvement versus its predecessor.  This capability is very much nice for flash photography especially when featuring scenic views like the below.

Moreover, “the wide-angle end of the new XC16-50mm II kit lens provides a minimum working distance of 15cm from the sensor (Approx. 7cm from lens surface). The Auto Macro function automatically switches the camera to the Macro mode for quick focusing.” (observe this in the above photo)

Important for wanderlust and the selfie nation is the first of its kind in the X-Series: an LCD screen that flips up 175 degrees making it easier to take a selfie. The wide-angle end of the new XC16-50mm II kit lens complements this perfectly, offering an equivalent to a 24mm lens in the 35mm film format so you can also include your surroundings.

Above are more photos from the event wherein we just took lots of selfie’s, drank mojito’s and bonded with Fujifilm executives!

Overall, X-A2 truly performs and functions better for macro photography, flash photography and as a selfie camera with its new unique features. Will definitely upgrade once I meet someone willing to buy my A1! =)

X-A2 costs P27,000 available at authorized dealers such as Camerahaus, Henry’s Professional, Photoline, Picture City, etc. They have branches in malls such as Glorietta, Megamall, SM North Edsa, etc

Benefit x Spoiled Brats @ Pangaea

It was my first visit at the newly-opened City Of Dreams, which looked so huge and luxurious (I secretly hoped I’d see Leonardo DiCaprio haha), and at Pangaea Manila, a luxury club located in the second floor. I got to check the place – which had amazing interiors, exuberant atmosphere, Peacock Rooms, Study Lounge, and rotating piano – out on a Spoiled Brat themed day and to party with the Benefit beauty girls.

Of course, it was a night of drinks and bling brows which I got to learn to play and wear after the workshop. Got to know that the Swarovski “blings” will also be present on a limited They’re Real Mascaras! Thanks to Benefit and Pangaea for this Wednesday night ( you may contact Seya Sanchez for bookings and reservations on this day). More photos below:

#JimSaabSaveTheWorld

And she danced; she danced with the music and with the rhythm of earths circles; she turned with the earth turning, like a disk, turning all faces to light and to darkness evenly. dancing towards daylight. – Anais Nin

Last weekend, Jim and Saab saved the world. It was love that we breathed and that caused a combination of tears (massive!!) and smiles all at the same time. Seeing Saab and Jim marrying each other, their dreams and fantasies, and letting us see those come to both reality and infinity, was such a genuine and generous act of love.

js17 Thank you and congratulations, Jim and Saab! I have been a fan of your love ever since and I am forever grateful that I got to witness your special day. In times like these, your love is the kind that will really save the world. The kind that will make us all believe that love is really beautiful. Thank you very much!

to infinity and beyond! #jimsaabsavetheworld

falling in love at the right time may one of the greatest feelings ever.
colours seem brighter, sounds more resonant and it is
truly an awesome feeling.
for Jim and Saab there’s so much more to come.

“Everyday I’m thankful that we fell in love at the right time. Three years ago I danced with you once upon a dream. Now I dance with you every night and today I’m marrying my dream. Tonight I’m gonna get to dance with my husband” – Saab

“Most people spend so much time looking for a typical perfect girl. But the truth is there is no perfect girl, only a perfect friend. a best friend. that’s YOU.
so before God today I promise you a life of laughter, my loyalty and a whole lot of rock n’ roll” – Jim

you better have lots of tissues handy because this wedding are capable of bringing even the most hardhearted among us to tears. 🙂

Enjoy!

Feeling Fiery

“Love is friendship that caught fire.”
I am still on a high from the feeling of love which I witnessed last weekend during the wedding of Saab Magalona and Jim Bacarro. Everything was just beautiful, passionate and full of fire.

Anyway, thanks to my friend, Kylie Marco for the dress that you made and for helping me select the other components like the coat that i wanted to insist on wearing because the color is so pretty!

I haven’t worn a formal attire for such a long time and I didn’t know what to wear but orange and gold were just so bright and full energy. I needed those! 😉

Photoshoot with L’Oreal paris & BJ Pascual

Yesterday, L’Oreal Makeup Designer / Paris challenged us to believe in Magic – that is to testify to the mattifying and transformative power of the new MAT Magique – a sister of the famous Lucent Magique that I’ve reviewed here on the blog. As one user of L’Oreal Paris foundations for years, I wanted to try this new line and while you know that I’m a fan of highlighters – which Lucent has in it! – matte foundations are great bases indeed for oily skin types like me!
But also, I heard that BJ Pascual, a renowned protographer represented by At East | Jed Root, would be taking our portraits after trying the line so I was really excited about it, actually quite nervous because BJ is a real PRO!  I always see his work in most magazine covers and billboards, and I am a real fan of his work. It was really exciting doing this with him and the team (Thank you L’Oreal Paris and BJ!) despite a super busy first week of January, by creating a look that I’ve never explored so much in this blog – a matte one that is made possible by the formula made of natural sebum absorber – volcanic pertile. LOTD and review soon at the beauty blog!

P.S. I didn’t place so much VSCO filter in the photos so you can see initially how matte and nice the foundation finish is!

Yoncé

I am solid B fan. Ever Since 4 and her Girls era, I’ve come to know her more as the progressive, honest and true R&B/Soul artist – the kind that I would definitely watch in the front row of the concert, whatever the cost (hello, pawnshops LOL). She inspired me so much in life and work (and beauty!) the previous year and even up to now, I am still listening to her songs like Jealous, XO and Pretty Hurts, all in her self-titled visual album Beyonce which I’ve purchased even in digital and premium. She has all these messages about success, happiness, honesty, beauty and life, and all combined, tangled in all her words, music, videos and photos that just push everything forward.

So this OOTD, feat. a shirt from Bazaar for All Seasons, and a good friend and fellow Bey hive, Christian Salonga, who got to watch B live and who got this On The Run tour shirt ughh, is dedicated to her.

Apollo and Collision

I like music festivals not just because I can just be super creative and colorful with my LOTD and OOTD (these coming up soon! haha), but it is also where I can just dance and listen to my favorite EDM songs (Yes, I love EDM!). A few weeks ago, I supported the first ever inter-university music festival in the Metro in collaboration with Phil Pop MusicFest Foundation, called Apollo. And then went to Collision, A DLSU event, and accompanied Kat, who sponsored an college event as well. #feelingbagets and peg namin.

What I also like about is celebrating original music, promoting and empowering local songwriters and student DJ’s as well! I had been part of a marketing organization (AJMA, which is also a partner here!) before in school and these events are truly something that can inspire and expose talents.

Kids of Beyonce @ Today X Future

Last night, I attended this event called Kids These Days: Kids of Beyonce and you know how I love Queen B! It made me so sad last year that her On the Run tour didn’t even reach Philippines and Asia that much and I would really cry and spend for that if that will happen this year. Instead, as the first Saturday of my 2015, I went to Today x Future. It was my first time but it was quite familiar! I was happy to see some of my LGBT friends there, old classmates, current work mates and new friends that also loved the music that I listen to!

Loved the sets of Regina Belmonte, Paris Roxas and Inah Evans! It was a mix of all my favorite Beyonce and non-B songs and I just enjoyed every song played, with much craziness and love in dancing 😉 Will definitely be back in this place!!
(Apologies for the blurry pics! It was like my vision coz I forgot to wear contacts haha)

Year-in-Review 2014

My favorite artist once said that when you do the things that you love, the things that you will fight for and you’re working towards that, it’s like having it all. And this year, while sometimes I feel like there are things lacking, I still feel that I’ve done a lot of things that are out of in love. Below was my 2014!

1. WANDERLUST ADVENTURES

year11

My first month started with a trip in Palawan, after our usual vacation in Batangas. I’ve never been to such a beautiful place and I’m still dreaming of it everyday.  It made me appreciate nature and the wonders of this country. Visited a few more local spots, and will definitely explore more this 2015!

Then Pattaya, which I’ve been wanting to visit and explore, and Singapore. I had planned a few more but budget didn’t allow, but I think I enjoyed every bit of the places I went to last year, saw beautiful things and found myself (CHOS). Kidding aside, traveling inspired me so much!

2. REKINDLED LOVE FOR MUSIC

year10

And it was because of that really artistic and genuine Beyonce album that launched before the start of 2014. Ever since I was kid, I was dreaming of becoming a musician and was such a fan of artists – pop, rock, R&B, OPM, EDM are my favorites –  and this year, I think I have developed better taste for music . Last year, I attended a few concerts and gigs of artists that I adored and I hope I’d still have the money to attend more this year especially that there are a lot coming!

3. MY BODY. MINE.
year7

Last year was the year that I decided to career-in my OOTD’s. I loved doing it because cliche as it may sound, it’s definitely one of the many ways that I can further express myself in this blog!

4. BEAUTY & A BEAUTIFUL COMMUNITY

year6

I think attended a lot more events, launches, lunches, and out-of-town trips (Sample Room at Pico De Loro + NIVEA bloggers at Palawan!) last 2014 than 2013 and 2012. The beauty industry has definitely been becoming bigger and more aggressive year after yeaqr. Nonetheless, I enjoyed doing a lot of these despite how difficult and time-consuming they are (see post about his here), especially when with people who share the same passion as I have, my beloved beauty blogging community!

5. BEAUTY & BEYOND
year5

But more than doing reviews and LOTD’s, I also had a lot of workshops this year.  I think I did 5 this year and was happy to realize that I have the best readers! Before the year ended, I also did the makeup of Rita Sebastian – who I think attended ALL of my workshops since 2012  – and the girls in her hospital for their Christmas party.  let’s have more offline events!

But also, it was the time that I relaunched this blog after a long break. I realized that I wanted this to be more than just cosmetics and expanded my horizon! I have a lot more in store this year as I’m working on a secret project and I hope that you will still be with me

6. FIGHT FOR THE LGBTIQ

year4

It was also this year that I became more active, maybe also curious, and vocal about the community that I belong to and the struggles that come with. I was able to speak about transgenders when it was the peak of the Jennifer Laude issue. I also attended the first #QCPrideMarch which made me so happy and empowered as a Transpinay and STRAP member. And then of course the things that we love: pageants and shows ( Miss Pussy 2014, Alcazar Cabaret, Pattaya, etc!)

7. A CLOSER HOME
year3

It was a difficult year for us, but that made us stronger, I think. I love my family and love spending time with them. It was also the year that my parents turned 50, and was so happy to have organized parties for their special moments!

8. YOUTH IS A STATE OF MIND
year2

I also probably danced and drank so much this year, but it was not like when I was really younger where I would almost go to clubs and bars every week. This time, it was much more of quality times, drinks, and great music with new and old friends at reunions, parties and music festivals which I’ve begin to love even more.

#MPWIU2014

I am not a pageant person but there’s this one contest that I join to almost every year. This lovely barkada (called “Pussy” who comprise mostly of Ateneo Dollhouse members as well) started a pageant called Miss Pussy World International of the Universe back in 2005 at one home and it evolved into a yearly event where all friends and circles would watch over brave pageant queens who are judged according to beauty = wit + creativity + poise. Last December, it celebrated its 10th year anniversary and 2013 Queen, Maffy Silvala, organized this year’s grand event.

The beauty pageant classic! I have been joining this pageant for 6 years and this has been my weakest segment because I always fail on the spiel but I think I made it this time, with my huge peacock outfit as Senora Santibanez. Thank you Jhajha Gabunal for this wonderful peacock feather costume!

A first in MPWIU history but not like the those ultra-sexy angels! Swimsuits and wings with a twist! Ms Greece (middle photo) won this segment with her Maleficent inspired outfit!

Started last 2012 when the wedding with a groom segment seemed like a very nice idea to showcase some guys (and for me, it was 2 naked guys!!). This time, a lot of crazy creative wedding ideas were showcased but this was won by Ms Greece again with her interpretative dance number.

Last year, I was not able to join but as a beterana for 6 years already, this has been a great venue for all of us beks to just have fun, celebrate and bond over spiels, costumes andmga paandar. This year was my highest rank so far (1st runner-up na! haha) but despite all the bigness and “competition”, I always have fun doing this, really! See you next year again, #MPWIU!
