love live for coffee. It is the foundation of my food pyramid, and my werq LOL. Kidding aside, my love for coffee started when I was in college, struggling with academics with all the stress and late nights which is still part of my work life until now. I was the kind who would stay up until 4am, studying chemistry and accounting, missing all the parties on Fridays and Saturdays, just to have a date with my Starbucks or Coffee Bean cup. I learned to love all cafe’s, especially of course those with charging stations. =)
Weeks ago, Origins invited us for a coffee workshop at Yardstick Makati. I remember back in college, I dedicated a project for coffee alone in one of my technical subjects and it was just so much fun discovering different beans and ways to prepare them for the perfect caffeine fix. Back then, there were not much third wave coffee shops – wherein these companies actually source (mostly locally) and put so much art & science (and passion!!) into preparing them for fuller and better roasts.
Yardstick is one those with interiors that match their craft. They also offer workshops and I had a great time refreshing some of my knowledge about my love, coffee!!
First, they let us taste different coffee’s around the world which can be classified into two: Coffea Arabica and Coffea Canephora (also known as Coffea Robusta). During the taste test, I was able to identify both, but mostly Robusta which is is stronger and burnt in taste which I like more.
Second is aero-pressing, which is a brewing technique invited in 2002, which is said to be shorter (30 sec) and more effective when it comes to extracting flavour. Coffee is steeped for 10–50 seconds (usually uses a fine grind) and then forced through a filter by pressing the plunger through the tube.
It was truly faster and more flavorful through this process while concentration is almost as good as espresso. This is something I wanna do when preparing coffee because also, there’s higher ph (less acid) which is good for heavy coffee drinkers.
It was also the perfect time to introduce the newest addition in one of my favorite Origins lines, Ginzing. A known tonic to balance energy, body and mind, Panax Ginseng is highly revered as a vital treasure to strengthen and aid the body in multiple ways, including fighting fatigue, strengthening immunity and enhancing memory. Ginseng helps to boost skin’s energy so skin remains resilient and balance is restored. Alongside caffeine, both works on making skin revitalizaed. And I also know how Ginseng works on my body as I have a daily multi-vitamin with this extract too! haha
For skin care, I tried the cleanser, mask and eye cream from this line and truly, it delivers an immediate, long-lasting jolt of energy and hydration that helps combat dull, tired skin. I always use these whenever I’m in my hell weeks at work to restore, energize and revitalize my skin. And they feel refreshing too!
I’ve tried a few of Origins’ masks and I must say that they are my top picks when it comes to skin treatment. I learned how to use these products especially 3 years ago, and the new one is a peel-off fortified with gentle Lemon, Orange and Apple Fruit Acid complex, working alongside key energy boosting ingredients Caffeine and Panax Ginseng, to boost cellular energy while eliminating signs of fatigue so skin stays resilient and bright.
I don’t usually use peel-off masks but I learned how to use it from this event too (yay for so much learnings!!). The key is to completely build the mask coverage, make it opaque and even, so that you can peel it off perfectly when it dries. It has to be applied on dry skin, avoiding the eye area, brows and hairline. To remove, smile to loosen, and gently peel off. Rinse off any residue.
We tried it on Niki Franciso (Origins Brand coordinator) and the area where we applied it on immediately became bright, even-toned and smoother too! In less than 10 minutes, this powerful mask peels away dirt, debris and stubborn dead skin cells while refining pores. Leaving just enough time to post a selfie with the fun dual-chrome finish. After use, pores are instantly tightened and skin is smoothed, leaving you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
Below are more photos from the event. Congrats on your new mask collections, Origins. I’m a fan really and #happybirthdayOrigins as well!
Origins GinZing Peel-Off Mask is available for Php 1,650.00 at Origins Retail Stores, SM Makati Department Store, SM Megamall and SM Mall of Asia.
Ray-Ban launches its newest campaign by encouraging individuals to do the things they’ve always been afraid to do. Whether it’s getting a tattoo for the first time, performing onstage in front of a crowd, or having the guts to sketch an artist, the eyewear brand advocates accepting one’s individual self and going beyond his or her comfort zone.
The #ItTakesCourage global campaign took flight in the form of an underground party, where Manila’s bright young creatives and personalities gathered for a night of uninhibited self-expression. Held at the Vinyl on Vin
yl Gallery, known for its young and fresh art exhibitions, Ray-Ban gave the room an industrial vibe through neon lights, mesh wires, and deconstructed installations. Aside from a display of the #ItTakesCourage campaign story, guests were challenged to test their courage through the activities Ray-Ban had in store for them. In “Open Your Heart,” guests were challenged by painter-illustrator Tokwa Peñaflorida to sketch him in order for him to sketch their portrait too. For “Fight Perfection,” Ray-Ban partnered with ink kings P&P Tattoo to dare guests to get inked on the spot. To help them take on these challenges, Hennessy, Belvedere, and Miller Genuine Draft provided free flowing “liquid courage” all night long.
Entertaining the crowd throughout the night were stellar performances by rock icon Ely Buendia and Pupil, 6 Cycle Mind, and awesome DJ sets by DJ Mars Miranda, DJ Ron Poe, Kat DJ, and DJ Ace Ramos. Seen playing foosball and riding Ray-Ban scooters were celebrities Richard Juan, Pat Sugui Marco Gumabao and Danita Paner, fashion designer Mark Bumgarner, artist Carla Humphries, athlete Michelle Gumabao, DJ Nix Damn P, and models Janna Tee, Brent Javier and Victor Basa.
The Ray-Ban #ItTakesCourage campaign is meant to inspire and encourage all kinds of courage. It’s easy enough to coast through life without breaking a sweat, but deep down we know that life begins at the end of your comfort zone.
It’s been a while for events like these, and I still resist being a #Tita so when Jacob Benedito said there will be a fashion show featuring top university guys, it was a GO! haha
See more of the photos I captured below. I had a difficult time focusing so pardon. As for the winners, I definitely agree with the result esp Tanner, but I hope Daniel Azurin also entered the Top4!
Summer has ended and in blogging and advertising world, the months of July, August and September mean vacation – events done, campaigns ended. I have more time to rest, eat well and really focus on overall fitness which I had more knowledge of when I started 2016. My goal is overall wellness and health in terms of mind and body – which means less night-out’s and all-nighter’s where I tend to eat a lot. It also means less stress for me as I’ll be focusing on the more important things. Today marks my third day though, with some helpful choices I’ve made through the below. Wish me luck!
For a busy girl like me, I find so much love for KFit which helps discover, plan, and reserve fitness, beauty and wellness activities nearby, anytime. Once you have the app on your device, it automatically gives access to a huge variety of activities that suit your needs, whether you want to relax at a spa, pamper yourself with a new haircut or go for a workout at a studio near you. You can choose to purchase individual fitness, beauty and spa activities, or opt for the KFit Pass, which entitles 10 fitness activities per month at only PH999.
In addition to conventional gyms and studios, KFit also gives customers access to a wider choice of fitness facilities including badminton and tennis courts as well as swimming pools. This eliminates repetitive fitness workouts which I kind of hate. It lets you discover new fitness locations, and at the same time learn about the perfect activity for your busy schedule.
“As KFit continues to gain popularity, it goes to show that lifestyle apps change our awareness and access to fitness and health. As Globe partners with this latest fitness app, we want our customers to have the advantage over KFit’s large number of service providers that includes a wide selection of amazing fitness studios, gyms, and sports facilities, beauty salons, and spas. And the best part about KFit is that it is available in nine cities across Asia Pacific. You can stay active even while you are traveling for holiday or business across different locations,” shares Dan Horan, Globe Senior Advisor for Consumer Business.
To get you started, Globe and KFit is giving Php400 off the Fitness Pass for every new sign-up exclusive to Globe customers. You just need to key in the promo code “TAKEMETHERE” in the “Promo Code” field provided. Each promo code has its value in its respective currency, and can only be used in that particular country. The promo code is valid until August 2016.
To learn more about KFit and how you can start setting your fitness goals, visit www.Kfit.com or download the KFit app. For more information on Globe and its latest products and services, visit www.globe.com.ph.
I showed the classes I’m interested in through the photos! =)
Food is something I rely on whenever I’m stressed and I must admit that I’ve neglected eating the right ones. When i was in college, I had a phase wherein I would just eat veggies and zero rice. I really became strict about my diet but I really craved months and years after that, and started gaining weight.
I want to lose the unnecessary fat, and of course to eat, and eat healthy. Yummy and well-prepared food are necessary for that and I like what I have started for 3 days already with Yummy Diet.
I chose the 1800-calorie program that’s Low-carb Hi-Protein. I like that there are choices when it comes to this, depending on what you really need for your body and mind. I need to cut on my sugar that’s why I chose this one which means more beans, fish and meat.
There’s a wide variety of yummy food. I just forgot to take some photos but I liked the Korean Pork Stir Fry, 3-Bean salad, Lemon and Garlic Chicken, Yellow Adobo and the above Day 3 list.
I already tried some diet delivery service in the past but this rates higher when it comes to flavors (they’re not bland!), choices of food and nice preparations . I get excited every time it arrives in my house and that should be the feeling right>
The program also includes a Box of Wellness which I’ll share in a few days!
