Peach ImPerfect

Peach is so hot right now in the beauty world. But if you have been reading my blog for 6 years, orange is one my go-to colors for eyes and lips as it just suits my warm undertone. When I tried peach on my eyes, I just got that instant blooming effect as I would usually get from orange. I think I’ll be wearing more of this color!

So my take is a monochromatic yet glossy and shiny peach. Just like a juicy tube! I started off with the newest release from BYS Philippines, the Peach palette which just screams all the colors I ever wanted in a palette.

The Peach palette compose mostly of really pigmented warm shimmer shades but there’s this one matte color in the middle that is my favorite!

On my eyes, with a bushy brow using the new MAKE UP FO EVER Brow product brow liner which has super sharp edges, the peachy orange color on my lid looks just so fruity!

I then decided to play! I thought of placing a lip gloss on top of the shadow on my lid and it turned out really juicy!

For the cheeks, I used these orange-y monos from MAKE UP FOR EVER irridescent shadows in I-752 and I-745 , the new glitters from BYS, and top it all of with this LA SPLASH glitters in Fuzzy Flamingo.

The highlight is courtesy of this new Scult & Glow which made the finish a little but wet, and the lips with the new MAX Factor Matte lippy in 10 Sunkiss which is just so creamy matte and pigmented.

Of course, the look will be complete with my newest launch at www.mikkigalang.com/shop, The Peary lace front wig. It’s a salmon pink wavy (kinda messy) styled angled cut bob which makes the overall look not so polished yet so peach perfect.

What you think about this look? I just had fun creating this and I hope you can do the same as you join my blogversary giveaway! Good luck!

Jewel of Thailand

THE INSPIRATION: Thailand 2016. I was inspired by the bold beauty of #MissUniverse @namtanlitaa, the glamour and recognition for trans of @missinternationalqueen, the eco-friendly cultural music fest i attended last Feb in #Pattaya, and my fav Asian beauty blogger, @pearypie of Bangkok.

KEY TECHNIQUES (Soft sexy smokey eyes): Create High thick brows with upward tail (as seen in most Thai celebs). Focus on brightening inner corner of the eye with primer and light pigments, and contouring the outer corner to make eyes look sexy and open. Use glitters on inner upper and lower parts of the eye. Use thick lashes and light contact lens to soften the look.

GET THE LOOK: Used mainly Cathy Doll products for this tutorial and review. The products below have amazing pigments, innovative formulas and ease of use. You can see from the pigment from the swatches and how there were no-minimal fall outs. Vote for Me: NYX #FaceAwards Top 15!

As you girls all know, I got in to the Top 30 of the 1st NYX Face Awards competition in the Philippines and I would like to thank you for the support and encouragement you’ve given me since I entered. I like how this has been challenging my creativity as an artist, how I want to take it further to vlogging, and also how I accept myself (like speaking, literally in videos 😉 and  sharing more about beauty and beyond. Now I need your help as you will decide who will move to the next rounds.

In the below video makeup tutorial and travel film, I made a story about a nymph that has the ability to transform herself in anything that her heart desires.

This is also kinda personal to me as a transgender and beauty guru so I really stretched my imagination and made it into something that I really would like to consider as my art. It’s DAY 3 already of voting and I really hope that I get your support. I placed so much effort and production in making this and I hope that you can vote for me! See below how you can do that, and share to your friends too =)

Wild Pinks

Tonight’s editorial is for my apparent love of pinks lately, not just because it’s very trendy this 2016. It just makes everything soft & blooming but I wanted to make a strong statement. So I got my peachy-pink wig matched with a black swimsuit, an intense smokey rose-gold eyes, and pink heart & attitude (also because, trans awareness month!) that now require even more fighting in the US and all over the world. Enjoy and keep wild calm, and wear pink!

#Halloween2016 3: Wolf and Woman

“Some days I am more wolf than woman and I am still learning how to stop apologizing for my wild” – Nikita Gill

I read this powerful quote from an IG post of a friend and former teacher and I got inspired to create the 3rd look for the #Halloween2016 series. It was quite sad that Halloween has come to an end because it’s always the time for transformations and creative expressions but it’s always halloween in this blog, isn’t it? =)

October was such a crazy wild fun month with all the weddings, parties and events I attended, but also because I got inspired by them. One was the wedding and uncommon love of my HS batchmates described by the visuals below.

I was waiting for the Mehron silver and gold pigment/paint to arrive to create this glam wolf look (you can also use some techniques here to recreate the famous animal Snapchat filters hehe) but I realized that I have a white lipstick that I got from the Artist Rouge event and I used that as base of the half-wolf face.

Key Techniques Applied:

  • Apply platinum eyeshadow on top of the white pigment to create a stunning frost base
  • Use a very sharp/precise liquid eyeliner to create feathery strokes that would define points of the face – brows, pointed eyeliner, contour areas
  • Smudge the sharp lines with glitter creams and shadow some with similar hues of pigment
  • Repeat drawing of sharp feathery lines

Watch the Halloween series at my YT channel this week. Hope you had a great one!

#Halloween2016 1: Broken Speaking Doll

My second look for #Halloween2016 is a spring doll that’s scary AF! I asked help from my MAKE UP FOR EVER friends this time and we created this look with artist Maws Diaz. I like that MUFE always has nice pre-set looks that halloween party-goers can avail at store.

See below products used! Here’s a saver tip I learned from this experience: mix lip gloss with red and black lipstick to make fake dripping blood!

Retro Matte

3 years ago, I first heard of the term “retro matte” through MAC Cosmetics’ most pigmented lipsticks ever, and I loved the deep effect that it gives on the lips. I dunno but I am still on this vintage or retro look & feel (especially in the 70s/80s) versus the strobed or the all-natural look. I have always loved Katy Perry’s and Kylie Jenner’s looks especially when they wear the neutral matte eyes, coupled with the ultra matte red / brown lip.

Photo 21-02-2016, 5 18 03 PM copy

Especially on the lips! Matte lipsticks give me a deep and intense look (can be contoured with liners and some highlighters). In my OOTD above, I used the Matte Me liquid lipstick in Rioja Red, which is my most favorite red-orangey shade as of now, just perfect for my skin tone.

I published years ago a look on Break my Spell that is inspired by this trend it’s more focused on contouring. I will share to you a look that’s doesn’t include the typical red lip.

For the eyes, I chose the 3 different shades of neutral/brown colors from Sleek Ultra Matte Palette and Pink Sugar Eye Candy (middle colors in both palettes) which has great matte textures too. I did the usual eye contour shape for me, but placed some shimmers outside the eye socket to make it more deep and intense. I also placed a beige color on the waterline to further open the eyes, and the lower lash line to enlarge it.

Photo 07-03-2016, 7 52 12 PM

For the face, there’s this new pressed powder from Sleek called Suede effect which makes the face extra-matte. Although i placed minimal highlight on some areas, the contour and powder should work to provide a deep, contoured effect.

nice pigmented matte blush shades from Sleek’s Blush by 3

Now to end this deep look, I used the new Retro Matte lipstick by MAC in Back in Vogue. It was just released and as usual, the pigmentation, consistency and matte texture: top of the charts! What’s different from the retro matte lippy is that this new format is more comfortable and wearable with decreased drying effect. Performance aside, the color is also just TDF – a coral neutral shade that does with any makeup color or look.

How do you pull off a retro matte look? below are more tips to achieve this look:

  • Always pat face using an oil-control film to achieve a matte finish always
  • Use lip liner of the same lippy shade to provide a fuller and deep lip
  • Eyeliner, mascara and tighline for the eyes to get a deeper eye
