The Scent of Millenials
I’ve known CK One fragrance when I was just a kid and I always wanted its unique fresh and electric scent. It originated 20 years ago and it has been an iconic scent symbolizing individualistic urban youth of the time.
But we know how millenials are of today. We want things that connect us yet give us something we can use to create, call our own, but most importantly, share . Then the CK2, the gender-free fragrance by Calvin Klein, was born. A scent we can all can relate to, with all our own memories, ideas and inspirations.
It was launched in The Philippines few weeks ago and I’m so happy to share it with my bestie blogger, Martha Sta. Barbara of The Beauty Junkee, and my partner at Digify. Their global instagram campaign, #The2OfUs, highlights how we millenials connect in different ways through this warm-cool “unisex” scent.
Aside from that nature, I have always liked how Calvin Klein is so daring, energetic and inspiring, not minding any kind of labels – especially when it comes to gender (see how CK same-sex couple for the first time). I like how brands help the LGBT in communicating different real-life stories of our community, via these ads.
The pop-up event held at SM Beauty Makati featured local CK2 ambassadors and influencers that embody everything about the youth of today – creative, free, and bold – but in two’s.. together.
The scent is just as daring and bold as the campaign. Announced as an urban woody – fresh scent, CK2 begins with unsual combination if wasabi, mandarin and violet leaf. Wet cobblestones and concrete accords are mixed with orris root and rose absolute and placed on the woody base of vetiver, sandalwood and incense.
I’ve been using this scent since my La Union trip and it’s really is a woody scent but the one that’s not too strong especially as it dries on the skin. I am not a super fan of warm ones as I would like more citrus or aquatic but there are unusual notes of these which make the new fragrances fresh and electric.
