Best & New From Happy Skin

Best & New From Happy Skin

Day in and day out, Happy Skin—one of country’s top homegrown brand of skin-caring makeup—sells over one hundred lippies, without fail. I got the chance to witness and review it’s summer (and now holiday) collections – as well as limited ones like the styLIZed and Preview collaborations – and I would like to share my favorite shades from its infamous lipstick collection, from its birth 2 years go up to now that it has its first boutique in Glorietta 3 launched weeks ago in line with its second anniversary.

A lot of people ask me about Happy Skin lippies and because it’s my favorite from the brand, I will review it in detail. From the introduction of its very first lippie—the Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Lippie, launched back in October 2013—Happy Skin right away delivered what women have always longed for in a lippie: “intense color and intense moisture,” proclaims co-founder Jacqe Yuengtian-Gutierrez. This promise was being realized with every lippie the brand created, from the Shut Up & Kiss Me Lip & Cheek Mousse to the  Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Matte Lippie and the Shut Up & Kiss Me Power Pout Moisturizing Lip Lacquer.

Below are my favorite colors from the line, while the lip swatches feature the newest product and shades launched this year which all look and feel lovely!

As usual, pigmentation and consistency of these lippies rank very well in my opinion. They don’t dry my lips too much and they give that kind of color that compliments my skin tone. Above are mostly nude and neutral pink shades that i use everyday at work and play.

This year, Happy Skin also launched their line of matte lipstick which feels very velvety, with a consistency that’s so good. It looks more like a semi-matte formula for me, and is definitely pigmented than the rest of the lines, but I really like how it doesn’t dry lips. As always, great job, Happy Skin!

There were also lots of collection launches that were limited edition’s like the collab with liz Uy, and Preview. I got one and you can see that above (right most) with a nice neutral/nude pink shade. But I really like more the consistency of the Cheek Tints evidence by the swatch above in the middle, in the same shade that I love even in its moisturizing lipstick format. Th

Indeed, with its huge success, a lot of permanent and limited collections and formats were released for it, especially this Holiday 2015, where Happy Skin’s best-loved lippies will come in gold-stamped, hardbound books that equip you on How to Take the Perfect #Selfie, How to Make Beauty Effortless, How to Make a Statement, and How to Conquer the World. “These books celebrate the different lifestyles of women today,” explains Jacqe. “You have the everyday gal who’s always on the lookout for the perfect #selfie, the effortless beauty who prefers a simple ‘no-makeup’ makeup look, the fashionista who’s set to make a statement with everything she does, and the power woman who wants to leave her mark on the world.”

For its holiday collection:

In the Holiday launch, I got the How to Conquer the World Moisturizing Lip Lacquer Set (P1,199) which includes two of Happy Skin’s most innovative lippie yet—the shiny-yet-weightless Shut Up & Kiss Me Power Pout Moisturizing Lip Lacquer. “The red orange Hear Me Roar and nude lilac Royal Treatment were huge hits when we launched them, so we wanted to offer these best-sellers again for the holidays!” says Jacqe. Power Pout uses a wax-free gel technology, so despite its intensely pigmented, high-shine formula, it still feels non-sticky on the lips.

How about you? What’s the best Happy Skin lippie hue for you?
